About Brand:
Name comes from: “Culo” in Italian means ass and “Camicia” means shirt. So it is as easy as it gets. Culo Camicia is also an Italian idiom that is used when two people are partners in crime.
Inspired by: everything started as a family hobby, when mamma Antonella taught the kid version of her son - Tommy - how to turn old shirts into 100% up-cycled boxers.
Why you started: after lots of time spent in quarantine, the more adult version of Tommy and his friends Goti and Red, decided to transform a family pastime into a real up-cycling brand, to show the world that a clean, socially responsible and cool alternative to classical underwear exists.
Where you are heading: we’d love to unite “culos” around the world against global warming. Thus, we are working hard to bring our boxers everywhere to change the current consumption attitude towards underwear. Our dreams do not stop here, we are also working to add new upcycled products to our line, giving a new life to other kinds of leftover fabrics and unused clothes. Because everything deserves a second chance!
Explain to your grandma what you do: do you remember the old shirts you were using as towels, now we turn them into unique, colorful, hand-made in Italy boxers!
It is a very artisanal process: first we handpick the second-hand shirts, we cut them into smaller pieces, then we cut the bigger parts by placing a paper pattern on it to create the front and the back of the boxer, we sew these two parts together and add an elastic band. The leftover fabric is collected and sewed together to create the boxer’s packaging.
