About Brand:
Name comes from: Saborka is a Nickname of mine that a friend came up with a long time ago just for the fun of it on a night out – never in a million years would I have thought that I would have my own brand at some point – let alone use this nickname of mine to name it. But sometimes the best things come unexpected ☺
Inspired by: materials and textures – because they heavily impact what the design will look like – but I’m also inspired by everyday life, and the people in it – so when I feel uninspired I go fabric shopping and/or take a longer walk than usual with my dog Lenny to take in what I see around me.
Why you started: Because I love creating things - love working with my hands. I consider myself a rather impatient person, but when it comes to sewing I have all the patience in the world. But also because I wanted people to be able to buy products that are vegan and ethically made – and because I feel that bag making is a dying art form in Austria, and I feel that it is so important to keep craftsmanship alive.
Where you are heading: into a brighter future, with more love, growth, and empathy for the planet, people and myself.
Explain to your grandma what you do: I sew beautiful bags out of vegan materials such as dead-stock fauxleather and pinatex, which is made from pineapple leaf fibre.
About Life:
Bored if: monotony – although I’m in the process of trying to remove the word bored from my vocabulary and really ask myself: am I really bored, or is there maybe a better way to describe that feeling and maybe what bothers me about the current situation.
Feel like dancing if: most of the time – but the best and most freeing dancing happens when I’m happy
Hungry for: change and empathy (and potatoes – can’t forget my beloved potatoes
Excited when: I see people happy and in love. & when I talk to people about their passions – nothing beats that <3
